OPENING 2005
description

Banca Intesa Beograd is one of the largest banks operating in Serbia. It is majority owned (93%) by Intesa Sanpaolo, while the other 7% is owned by the International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group. Founded as Delta banka in 1991, the bank's headquarters are in Belgrade. Banca Intesa acquired a 75% stake in the bank in February 2005, increasing it to 90% in August of the same year.
In 2005 Delta banka officially changed its name to Banca Intesa Beograd.
After the August 2006 merger of the Banca Intesa and Sanpaolo IMI banking groups, Banca Intesa Beograd began operating on 1 January 2007 as a member of the newly-formed Intesa Sanpaolo Group. Since Sanpaolo IMI owned Panonska banka in Serbia, a decision had to be made about the new group's future structure in that country. On 1 January 2008, Panonska banka was merged into Banka Intesa Beograd.
