Banco Francés e Italiano para la América del Sur, a Sudameris subsidiary, was founded in Caracas on 17 February 1950. In 1967 the bank's name was changed to Banco Latinoamericano de Venezuela and later, following the process of nationalization of Venezuela's banks, to Banco Latino.
The bank had branches in Caracas, Barcelona, Barquisimeto, Maracaibo, Puerto Cabello, Puerto la Cruz and Valencia as well as various city agencies. It was closed in 1994 due to a severe crisis in Venezuela's financial system.
