description

In 1937, Banco di Napoli (BN) began running the Mogadishu branch of Cassa di Risparmio di Torino in that bank's place, taking over its assets and liabilities as well as reimbursing it for the expenses that it had incurred in setting up and furnishing both the branch and the staff residences.
Antonio Carmi, a former manager of Bancofer and numerous commercial enterprises who was known for his in-depth familiarity with the Italian emigrant community there, became the branch's manager in 1950.
During World War II, the branch operated under the supervision of the local authorities, fully resuming its activities on 15 March 1949. After the nationalization of foreign banks working in Somalia, the Mogadishu branch ceased to operate on 6 May 1970.
